Currently, Maryjo devotes a substantial portion of her time serving the needs of individuals in divorce and family law. She brings a unique set of skills as a 25 year trial attorney to the often challenging issues that family dynamics can bring. With personal attention and compassion, Maryjo works tirelessly to resolve these issues through a negotiated settlement. When a compromise is not possible, she has the trial experience necessary to present your case in a persuasive and effective manner to the court.
Before moving to Colorado in 2007, Maryjo was a partner at a large Buffalo, New York, law firm. Maryjo, a seasoned trial attorney, has successfully tried cases in state and federal court throughout New York State and Colorado. Maryjo has defended ski areas, river rafting outfits and other recreational facilities, rental car companies, doctors and hospitals in medical malpractice claims, police officers in civil rights §1983 claims, product liability, municipalities in both general negligence and road defect claims, and general negligence claims. Maryjo has been also retained as parachute counsel on a number of occasions to defend particularly difficult claims at trial.
Maryjo has also advised ski resorts throughout New York and Colorado in all areas of their operations. She regularly speaks before ski industry and other groups on risk management issues, including the National Ski Areas Association. She has also been a featured speaker for the Colorado River Outfitters Association.
Maryjo also loves to teach. Applying her courtroom experience, Maryjo works with Trialrun, a trial and litigation consulting firm and trial advocacy training firm, as an educator and trainer. Maryjo has taught learning by doing programs in taking an effective deposition to counsel for the United States Navy in Norfolk Virginia; evidence programs to counsel for the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington D.C. and Boston; and advanced trial advocacy programs for the SEC in Chicago and San Francisco. Maryjo was also a featured presenter in a Trialrun webcast to counsel for the Navy in effective deposition techniques that was broadcast live across the country.
Maryjo is married to Steven M. Zweig and they have six children between them. Maryjo and Steve split their time between their Colorado and Buffalo offices of Zweig Law, PC.
